This guy was spending the afternoon fishing the day I was there.  I have a few more pics of this & related images below.

More Lake Guntersville from the BB Comer boat dock!  It’s a tree (near) & a mountain (far).  More trees on the lake after the cut. (more…)

BB Comer Bridge: Scottsboro & Section, Alabama; Feb 8, 2011

Picture of the BB Comer bridge in Scottsboro & Section, Alabama from the boat dock, winter 2011.
BB Comer Bridge

From what I can tell, this bridge must be the dividing line between Scottsboro & Section, as all the info on the boat dock said it was in Section.  The water is Lake Guntersville, & I took these pics from the boat dock there just over the bridge as you are heading up the mountain, where you turn off to go to Langston.  I wanted to get a good pic of the ducks, but they proved too elusive.  If only I had thought to bring snacks…

I have a few other takes on this same view I’ll post below. (more…)

Sunset Slide: Stevenson, Alabama; Jan 2011

A sunset pic of the Stevenson Park playground on the hill by the pool; taken in Stevenson, Alabama winter 2011.
Sunset Slide

I’m back!  Here I offer you a pic of the upper playground of the Stevenson City Park, by the pool.  This was taken a couple of weeks ago, so late January.  I like all the color they’ve used repainting everything.  Here we have a bright red slide, red benches, a green bench, & a blue trash can with a green top.  Too bad they painted the pool house & community buildings gray & white, instead of the lovely yellow they were when I spent my summers there.  I got a pic of the community building I’ll post below.

Being sick got me off my posting, so getting back to it I’ve decided to go au naturel with my pics.  I think I’ve got some good ones that don’t need it anyway.  Yay! (more…)

Busy Blue Day: Stevenson, Alabama; Jan 20, 2007

A row of cars parked in downtown Stevenson, Alabama under a cloudy blue sky in Winter 2007.
Busy Blue Day

I haven’t gotten any of my latest pics off the camera yet, so today you get another older one:~)  Today it’s cold, windy, & rainy.  Boo!  I anxiously await cheerier weather, so I can spend more time walking around getting a nice selection of new pics in different areas of town & the broader area.  In the mean time, when I’m less lazy have some much older pics, & pics from traveling around, I’d like to use.  I need to get around to scanning them.

This is another unedited photo.  I have an edited version of this one, but I like the original better.  It looks more real.

Not Quite Dead: Stevenson, Alabama; Jan 20, 2007

An empty storefront in Downtown Stevenson, Alabama, taken during the winter of 2007.
Not Quite Dead

At first glance this building looks empty, but just inside the window you can see a desk set-up.  That, plus the winter state of the tree in the foreground, inspired the title.

I spent most of my time on this one cropping & trying different effects.  In the end I settled on this crop of it & just a little tweaking of the light.  I added the original & a different crop below just to show the difference. (more…)
