Blue Bridge: South Pittsburg, Tennessee: March 15, 2012

Looking down the road at a blue bridge against a darkening cloudy sky.Blue Bridge

This bridge crosses the Tennessee River.  I tried to find a name for it, because in all my years I have never heard it called anything but “that bridge”.  I even looked online & all I can find is South Pittsburg Bridge.  When I was a kid & we had to go over this, my aunt always covered her eyes because she thought it was one of those bridges that opened & it scared her.

I cropped this one, & it was taken with my Samsung (because I was driving).

A Bunch: Stevenson, Alabama: July 13, 2012

A small grouping of trees reflected in the water of Mud Creek in the distance.A Bunch

I thought that looked like a bunch of trees, not so much that there is a lot of them but that they are bunched together by the water.  Taken with my Nikon on Mud Creek from the boat dock at the Stevenson City Park.

A Cloud in the Sky: Stevenson, Alabama: July 22, 2012

A large cloud rolling in over the treeline. A Cloud in the Sky

This is just a massive cloud that rolled in over the park as I was running.  It was getting ready to pour & I thought it was pretty impressive.  Taken with my Samsung.

Field of Lily Pads: Stevenson, Alabama: July 13, 2012

A field of lily pads on Mud Creek.Field of Lily Pads

Picture of the mass of huge lily pads that grow in Mud Creek off the boat dock at the park.  They always grow up tall during the Spring when it rains a lot & the water is high; then in the Summer when the rain dries up & the water recedes the are left hanging out to die off.  They are really pretty when they’re flowering.

Taken with my Nikon.

Mud Creek, taken at the boat dock at the Stevenson City Park with my Nikon.  Adjusted the light a little & cooled the tones a bit.  I usually go warm, so this was a little different.

Hick’s Grocery: Stevenson, Alabama: July 23, 2012

An old, closed down, small neighborhood grocery with bars on the window & the windows broken out.Hick’s Grocery

I’m not sure when this store closed.  Maybe in the 90’s.  We used to stop here a lot when I was a kid.  I got a lot of banana Laffy Taffy & chocolate footballs there, along with the occasional Three Musketeers until I realized as much as I loved them they made me sick.  Once on the way to daycare my mom stopped here & bought a can of fruit cocktail for our snack.  I have no idea why, but that memory has always stuck in my head.  I must have been about 3yo.

Taken with my Canon & edited for light & color.

The Little House: Stevenson, Alabama: July 23, 2012

A small house on the corner streets of an older neighborhood in Stevenson, Alabama. The Little House

I don’t have much to say about this photo.  It’s a little house, cute with rose bushes on the side.  I always notice it when I drive by.  I can tell you that sidewalk is newish.  When I was young & riding my bike around town there was no sidewalk.  When a car came by you just had to get in the ditch.  It sucked.  I’m glad they put in the sidewalk because a lot of people walk that road.  The grocery store, drug store, & bank are all passed here down the road, & behind me at the other end of the road is public housing.

This was taken with my Canon & is unedited.
